Becoming a Sage

The Wildwood Theatre is a mission driven, multicultural organization committed to telling stories through theatre, music, and spoken word. Each season we engage thousands of community members and work to support artists through building equitable compensation models and by inviting other organizations into the wood to collaborate and share resources.

  • The Sages are a group of individuals who share a passion for mental health and the performing arts. We work to both serve our mission of destigmatizing mental illness while expanding on the potential for theater to ignite social change. The Sages are also committed to the innovation and recreation of how a theater company operates and what a theater can become.

Who should apply?

The Wildwood Theatre is continuously striving to build on the current strength of our Sages. We are interested in gathering individuals with varied experiences and backgrounds that reflect our diverse community. If you believe that you have the passion, skills, professional insight, experience, we want to hear from you!

  • ~Serve at least one 3-year term

    ~Attend between 6-8 board and council meetings per year

    ~Serve on at least one counsil. Current councils include Executive, Artistry, Finance, Community Engagement, and Marketing.

    ~Actively work to sustain and grow the Wildwood by donating your knowledge, skills, and time.

  • ~You want to promote The Wildwood to your community.

    ~You love The Wildwood for entertainment, community, and compelling events.

    ~You want to help a strong and growing organization to become even stronger.

    ~You enjoy connecting with others who are helping to share the Wildwood experience.

  • ~Initial conversation with the Executive Counsel to learn more about the organization and member responsibilities

    ~One-on-one meeting with an active Sage for additional perspective

    ~Confirm your desire to be considered for membership

    ~Sages meet to discuss candidacy and, if moving forward, extends an invitation to join
